On the occasion of World Environment Day, the minister had expressed his anger on the stage of the Environment Day celebrations organized by the State Pollution Control Board at the Biswa Bangla Convention Center in New Town for not having the picture of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee anywhere in the LED screen and banner. .

10 days after that incident, Minister Dr. Manas Ranjan Bhuiyan was 'suddenly' removed from the post of Minister of Environment Department. There is talk in a section of the administration that the photo controversy is behind this change.

Although a section of officials of the environment department speculated that there was no photograph of the chief minister, it was 'exaggerated' to express anger on the Environment Day platform. Earlier, the then minister had expressed anger on this issue.

Last May, he went to another government function in Paschim Medinipur and expressed displeasure over not being able to see the chief minister's photo, demanding a report from the District Magistrate, which was attacked by the opposition. According to a section of political analysts, the CM does not want controversy regarding his image in the environment of Panchayat elections. That's why he said that the message was given to other people of the party by the Environment Department.
